Recycling Voucher Program

Bothell residents living within city limits can request up to two $30 vouchers per year to recycle special items like large appliances, clean wood, yard waste, mattresses, and box springs at the Shoreline Recycling & Transfer Station throughout the year.

How does it work?

Request your vouchers by mail by filling out a form online or stop by The Recology Store to pick them up. You can verify your eligibility by putting your address in to this interactive map.

Vouchers can be used throughout the year at your convenience. Once you have your voucher, take your recyclable items and your voucher to the Shoreline Recycling & Transfer Station. Let the cashier know you have a voucher and they will assist you in processing your items. 

Have anything hazardous to dispose?

The Household Hazardous Wastemobile may be able to take those hazardous materials off your hands.

Things to know before participating 

  • The Recycling Voucher Program is for City of Bothell residents only (check eligibility on the map of Bothell city limits)
  • Commercial businesses are not eligible for this program.
  • This is not a hauling service offered by the city; residents must haul their own items to the transfer station.
  • You must request a voucher by November 1st and redeem at the transfer station by November 30th.
  • Two vouchers are issued per household each year while supplies last.
  • If recycling fees charged for your items are over the voucher's $30 value, you will be responsible for covering the additional costs

Vouchers can be used for:

Refrigerant-type appliances at a transfer stationCFC Appliances

Fees are $30 for each refrigerant type appliance that contains or contained refrigerants like refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, etc. There is no fee for non-refrigerant type appliances, such as stoves, washers, dryers, etc. Appliances must be empty. Dishwashers made of 50% or more plastic will not be accepted for recycling.

There is a $30 handling fee for each mattress, futon, or box spring of any size. Limit total of 6 pieces per customer per day. No wet mattresses. Torn or stained ok.

$115 per ton, $18 minimum fee (up to 320 lbs.). Includes branches, brush, grass clippings, leaves, tree stumps, wood rounds, holiday trees, and weeds. Branches: Maximum size 8' long, 4" diameter. Tree stumps, wood rounds: Maximum size 2'x2'x2'. No plastic of any sort, glass, metal, sod, soil, or rocks.

$115 per ton, $18 minimum fee (up to 320 lbs.). Includes plywood, construction lumber, oriented strand board (OSB), pallets, and lath (no plaster). No items longer than 8’. No painted, stained or treated wood. No metal hinges or latches (nails and staples are okay).
