January 12 – March 16, 2023

Thursdays, 6:00pm – 8:30pm  at Bothell Police Department

Community Academy is an opportunity to get an up-close look at the Bothell Police Department.  Officer speaks to 2021 Community Academy

Participants will meet one evening each week and learn from officers, civilians and command staff in the Bothell Police Department.  While mainly classroom based at the Bothell Police department, Community Academy will also give participants some hands-on experiences, with opportunities to interact with Bothell Police officers and ask questions.

The Mission of Community Academy

The purpose of Community Academy is to increase and improve understanding between Bothell residents and the department through education, discussion and activities.  We seek to share much more than just what we do.  We'll answer the how and why questions, too.

During the seven-week course, participants will learn directly from Bothell Police officers, detectives, specialists and commanders on topics including:

  • Criminal investigations
  • De-escalation tactics
  • Traffic laws and enforcement
  • Major crash investigations
  • Officer hiring and training
  • RADAR Navigators
  • Bothell Police 911 Dispatch
  • Gathering and processing evidence
  • K9 Program
  • And much more!
