This project is and is the last missing segment of North Creek Trail within the City of Bothell. It will be built on a separated path from SR 524 between the intersection of SR 524 (Filbert Road)/9th Ave. SE and the northern terminus of the newly built North Creek Trail Section 3.

When complete, this trail will connect the designed Snohomish County North Creek Regional Trail with the existing North Creek Trail system in Bothell. It is a key missing North Creek Trail segment that will link the Snohomish County Regional Interurban Trail at McCollum Park in Everett with the King County Regional Sammamish River Trail/Burke-Gilman Trail in Bothell. Completion of the North Creek Trail system will improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists as well as encourage non-motorized travel between business centers, transit stops, parks, and employment centers.

This project is in its 90% design phase and starting the planning efforts for the Right-of-Way phase of the project.

  • October 2016:  Begin trail design
  • 2018:  Complete trail design/environmental documentation
  • 2019:  Begin-right-of way acquisition process
  • 2020:  Complete right-of-way acquisition/certification

The City has received the following federal grants to complete the design and right-of-way acquisition phases of this project:
  • $735,000 Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) grant
  • $1,015,800 Surface Transportation Program (STP) grant
The City is currently seeking funding for the construction of the trail, which will occur in phases.
